How a phone earns its grade.
Every pre-owned phone we sell goes across the same bench in the back of the shop before it is priced. The grade on the tag describes the outside. The inside is tested the same way on all of them, and the warranty is the same too.
The four grades
Grade is cosmetic. A Fair phone and an Excellent phone passed the same tests and carry the same 90-day warranty. You are choosing how much wear you can live with for the price.
Fair
Visible wear such as scratches on the frame or faint marks on the glass. Fully working and tested like every other grade.
Battery 80% or better
Good
Light signs of use. Small scuffs on the frame or back, screen clean under a case and glass protector.
Battery 85% or better
Excellent
Looks new from arm's length. No marks on the screen, at most a hairline on the frame you have to hunt for.
Battery 90% or better
New
Factory sealed in the original box with the full manufacturer warranty.
Battery 100%
What the bench test covers
Forty checks in eight groups. A phone that fails one gets the part replaced and goes back through, or it does not go in the case.
- Screen and touch
- Dead pixels, burn-in, touch across the whole panel, True Tone and brightness, original or quality replacement glass.
- Cameras and unlock
- Every lens front and back, autofocus, flash, Face ID or fingerprint enrolled fresh on the bench.
- Battery
- Health read from the phone itself. Under the floor for its grade means a new cell before it goes on the shelf.
- Charging
- Wired at full speed, wireless or MagSafe where fitted, the port cleaned and inspected under magnification.
- Sound and haptics
- Earpiece, loudspeaker, all microphones on a recorded call, vibration motor.
- Radios and buttons
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, cellular on a live SIM, every button and the mute switch.
- Carrier lock and IMEI
- Unlocked for any US carrier, IMEI clean on the blacklist, activation lock and accounts removed.
- Water and structure
- Liquid indicators, frame straightness, back glass, seals after any repair.

Covers the phone and anything we replaced in it. Handled at the counter, not by mail.

Bring it back in the condition we sold it, signed out of your account, for a full refund.

Glass and data transfer
Tempered glass fitted and your old phone copied over before you leave the shop.
